This team has wide-ranging experience in the implementation of projects applicable to the area of development of new therapeutic strategies and, by extension, of bio-health and bio-technological interest.
At present, avenues of research are based on the identification and characterisation of drug-action targets, with the aim of designing new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of parasitic diseases. The activity falls within a multidisciplinary initiative, in which team members interact directly with chemists, protein crystallographers and pharmaceutical companies, with the aim of designing and optimising inhibitors that might give rise to antiprotozoan compounds.
